The Red Cross in Helsingborg is part of the world's largest human safety net. The Red Cross, the Red Crescent and the Red Crystal exists in almost all countries in the world, involving some 100 million volunteers.

 
You most certainly know our protection symbol, the red cross on a white background, and probably also know that the red crescent on a white background is an alternative symbol. Surely you have seen our collecting boxes around the city. Many know that the Red Cross is an international relief organization that offers aid to vulnerable people in humanitarian disasters.

 

 

Are you aware that the organization works locally in Sweden as well? In all municipalities of the country the Red Cross fills an important social function, both for us who are active in the society and for our fellow human beings who we target our efforts to.
 

The Red Cross is in addition to other community safety net. Over the years, the Red Cross has drawn attention to the needs of the community and to develop measures to remedy them. It has happened more than once that the community authorities have taken over these activities.

 

The Swedish Red Cross is a preparedness organization, as well as all other national Red Cross societies. In Sweden we have been spared when compared with many other countries, but after the tsunami in 2004, volunteers carried out a great work. The Swedish Red Cross collected nearly 200 million and our volunteers listen to countless stories from victims who needed someone to talk to.
